At Krissy Dudley Psychotherapy Services, I provide a safe, empathic, non-judgmental, accepting environment where you can explore the issues you may be experiencing. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy and work with individuals from the age of 14-years-old.
I work mostly using an integrative approach which combines Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Third Wave Therapies, Psychodynamic and Mindfulness. Meaning I am able to draw upon different approaches to best meet your needs.
Psychotherapy gives you an opportunity to peel the layers of your experience, reaching the core, thus enabling healing in a safe, contained space. It allows the possibility of integrating into a new way of being. In the therapy we can explore the roots of issues, process what may remain unprocessed currently, build self-esteem and help meet your wants, needs and wishes. Many people access therapy because they want to feel different, to change the emotions they are experiencing, or for others it may be learning to access feelings that have perhaps been locked away through trauma. Whatever you need, reach out and we can see how best I can meet your needs.
EMDR is a specialised psychotherapy that was originally developed to treat trauma such as car accidents, childhood abuse or neglect, assault, war or natural disasters. However, as research continues to develop into EMDR it is providing positive results in the treatment of various mental health challenges from depression and anxiety to phobias, relationship issues and more.
Through a phased approach, EMDR helps process negative beliefs, emotions, memories, and experiences providing a decrease in distress and the ability to feel more connected in the here and now. It enables the healing from the emotional distress and symptoms that result from disturbing life experiences. The brain has a natural propensity towards healing but in difficult life experiences this can become blocked meaning the emotional wound can fester causing significant emotional harm. The process of EMDR removes this block, supporting the brain to return to its natural ability to heal.
You are able to access EMDR alongside your counselling or psychotherapy. If we are working together and you or I feel this would be beneficial we can discuss this in-session.
Are you facing a difficult decision that you need to make?
Do you need quick relief from something bothering you?
Are you feeling anxious before an event?
Single session therapy is a goal-orientated session whereby clear objectives are collaboratively decided, enabling an efficient and targeted approach to specific concerns. It is a good option for a short-term problem and if you decide you would like subsequent sessions this can be facilitated.
Couples counselling is a form of therapy whereby both you and your partner will attend. Though it is possible to attend alone if your partner is not open to the process with the focus of gaining a better understanding of your relationship and how it can be improved. It may be that you have difficulty communicating, perhaps you feel you are going around in circles and need support to develop new ways in your relationship. Couples counselling is useful for various issues including conflicts, infidelity, issues related to sex, parenting style differences and infertility amongst others.
The first session will be a joint session before an individual session each to enable me to understand your own histories before returning to joint sessions. The benefits of couple counselling include improved communication, a decrease in conflict, a strengthening in attachment, a change in behaviours and a greater understanding of one another.
Please reach out if you feel this may be of benefit to you.
